We count among the most famous attractions of Val Ceno, the Castle of Bardi, a splendid and impregnable fortress well preserved and dominating the valley, the Castle of Varano, a very solid manor in the Lower Val Ceno and also what remains of the Castles of Varsi and Vianino, and of the countless small disappeared castles whose ruins are located in the woods.
Several of our mountains and woods host between spring and autumn the Bardigiani horses grazing, the native breed that draws its origins in these lands, also appreciated by the Landi princes of Val Ceno and Val Taro. The wooded areas, of great naturalistic interest, are rich depending on the season, of porcini mushrooms, sticklebacks, black truffles of Val Ceno, chestnuts. There are still ancient trees. The internal road network passes through ancient villages that still boast many houses, votive chapels, fountains and stone ovens. The undergrowth that borders the town leads through ancient paths towards the streams, some majestic waterfalls, intermittent lakes. Here they drink not only horses during grazing, but also wild animals such as roe deer, wild boars, hares, squirrels, pheasants, partridges. The area is rich in mineral varieties and characterized by Red and Black Jasper. The Valcenese economy has a productive impact on a human scale, its economy is still very much based on agriculture, the production of Parmigiano Reggiano, crafts, catering and accommodation, small and medium-sized enterprises. In recent years, several realities have invested in the attractiveness of horse riding and horse trekking. The entrepreneurial expression of the Dallara company has also emerged for years, which has made technology and engines its specialty with intelligence, ethics and innovation, to create “Dallara Academy”, a modern museum with futuristic design.
