Excursion in Val Nure: discovering Lake Nero

Posts
Lago Nero - Alta Val Nure

Lago Nero is the largest of the glacial lakes of the Ligurian-Emilian Apennines and preserves a practically intact natural environment.

It is located at the bottom of a glacial basin west of Monte Nero and north-east of Monte Bue at an altitude of 1540 m above sea level. The mountain has a real peculiarity: it houses specimens of silver fir and mountain pine, the only ones left in the whole Apennines.
The lake is elongated in shape and is about 200 m long, about 80 m wide and has a maximum depth of about 2.5 m.

Being located at high altitude it is frozen in winter.
The premise is tempting to indulge in this fabulous excursion.

How to reach it?
It can be reached via various hiking trails.
From Val d’Aveto you can follow the path that leads from Rocca d’Aveto to Monte Bue where a detour leads to the glacial area.
From Val Nure instead you can reach the Zovallo Pass by car and take an EE ring excursion that leads to the summit of Monte Nero and then return to the shores of the lake.

Information:
• Suitable for everyone
• Highest point – summit of Mount Bue 1775 m a.s.l.
• Length about 9 km
• Feasible in all seasons of the year, although it is better to avoid the days when it has just rained.

We just have to wish you … Happy trekking! ????
